Terms of Use
These Terms are an agreement between you and Arjun Gowda L, who runs Zenlit. They apply together with the Community Guidelines. The Privacy Notice explains how we handle your data.
When you tick “I accept the Terms and Community Guidelines” you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Zenlit.
1. About Zenlit and these Terms
Zenlit is a free app for adults in India to discover and chat with people nearby, on the web at https://app.zenlit.in and on Android. It is run by Arjun Gowda L, an individual based in Mysuru, Karnataka, India. In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean him as the operator of Zenlit, and “you” means the person using Zenlit.
These Terms, the Community Guidelines and the Privacy Notice are the whole agreement between you and us about Zenlit.
2. Who can use Zenlit
- You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law.
- Zenlit is offered for use in India.
- Use one account, in your own identity, and give your real date of birth.
- You can’t use Zenlit if we have removed your account before for breaking these Terms, or if the law doesn’t allow you to.
3. Your account
You sign in with Google, with Apple (on the web) or with a 6-digit code emailed from no-reply@zenlit.in. There are no passwords, so keep your email, Google or Apple account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Don’t sell, lend or transfer it. If you think someone else has used it, contact us straight away.
You can change your username once every 30 days. Your previous username is held for 14 days so you can switch back.
4. How Zenlit works
- Radar shows members near you while Zenlit is open and you are visible. Your distance and location are never shown to anyone.
- The Feed shows posts from people nearby. Each post is one photo with an optional caption.
- Your first message to someone is a request. Once they accept, you can chat, and read receipts show when messages are read.
- You can hide from Radar at any time, block anyone (which hides you from each other both ways), and report accounts, posts, messages and conversations.
Location is reported by each member’s own browser or phone. We can’t verify where anyone physically is, so treat someone’s presence nearby as something they report, not something we have checked.
5. Meeting people and your safety
Zenlit helps you meet strangers. You do so at your own risk. We don’t run background checks and can’t verify anyone’s identity, age or location beyond what members tell us.
- Meet in a busy public place.
- Tell a friend where you’re going.
- Keep chats in Zenlit at first, before sharing your phone number or other contacts.
- Block or report anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
Zenlit is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call 112.
6. Your content
You own the photos, captions, messages and profile details you share. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, resize, re-encode, make preview copies of and display your content to the members who can see it, only to run Zenlit. Because our hosting provider delivers Zenlit through a global network, this licence is worldwide.
The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we keep as described in the Privacy Notice (for example, reported content kept for safety review, or content we must preserve by law).
You are responsible for what you share. Only share content you have the right to share, and get permission before sharing a photo of someone else or their personal details.
7. Content you must not share
Indian law requires us to tell you that you must not host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, store, update or share any information that:
- belongs to another person and you have no right to share;
- is obscene, pornographic or paedophilic, invades another person’s privacy (including bodily privacy), insults or harasses anyone on the basis of gender, is racially or ethnically objectionable, relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling, or promotes enmity between groups on the grounds of religion or caste with the intent to incite violence;
- is harmful to children;
- infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
- deceives or misleads people about where a message came from, or knowingly and intentionally communicates misinformation or information that is patently false, untrue or misleading;
- impersonates another person;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, or public order; incites any cognisable offence; prevents the investigation of any offence; or insults another nation;
- contains a software virus or any other code, file or program designed to interrupt, destroy or limit any computer resource;
- is, or advertises or promotes, an online game (or a platform offering one) that is not permitted under Indian law, or an online game that causes harm to users;
- breaks any law in force.
This includes synthetically generated images, audio and video: content created or changed with AI or other tools so that it looks real, such as deepfakes. If you share a realistic photo that was made or changed this way, say so in the caption. Misusing such content, for example to impersonate, deceive or sexually exploit someone, can lead to penalties under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and other laws.
The Community Guidelines explain these rules in everyday terms.
8. Other things you must not do
- Fake your location, or use any tool to make your device report a place you are not.
- Use Zenlit to track, follow or find out where someone lives or is.
- Collect other members’ data, for example with bots or scraping, or access Zenlit by automated means.
- Send spam, advertising or commercial messages.
- Create another account to get around a block, restriction or removal.
- Interfere with Zenlit, get around its security, limits or safety features, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows.
- Use Zenlit for anything illegal, or to harm anyone.
9. Moderation and enforcement
Reports are reviewed by the operator. If content or an account breaks these Terms, the Community Guidelines or the law, or puts others at risk, we may remove the content, restrict the account (a restricted account can’t use Radar, the Feed or Messages, but can still contact support and appeal) or delete the account. We act only for reasons like these.
If you don’t comply with these Terms, the Community Guidelines, the Privacy Notice or the law, we may immediately end or suspend your access to Zenlit, remove the content, or both. You may also be liable to penalty or punishment under the Information Technology Act, 2000 or other laws. Where the law requires it, we report offences (for example under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) to the authorities.
We remove content when a court, or a government officer authorised by law, orders us to, within the time the law sets, and we give information to lawfully authorised agencies when the law requires. We preserve removed content and related records for 180 days, or longer if a court or authorised agency asks.
If you think we got a decision wrong, appeal through Help → Contact support (restricted accounts see Appeal account restriction). Tell us what you think we got wrong; we’ll review it and reply within 7 days.
10. Complaints and Grievance Officer
- Grievance Officer: Arjun Gowda L, Mysuru, Karnataka, India.
- Email: app.zenlit@gmail.com. In the app: Help → Contact support, or the Support form on the sign-in screen if you are signed out.
Anyone can complain, even without a Zenlit account. We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 7 days. If you ask us to remove content that breaks the rules in Content you must not share, we act on it within 36 hours.
If content shows your private areas, shows you nude or in a sexual act, or impersonates you (including a morphed image), and it was shared without your consent, report it or email us: we remove it or block access to it within 2 hours of your complaint. Someone can also complain on your behalf.
If you are not satisfied with the Grievance Officer’s decision, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee within 30 days at https://gac.gov.in.
11. Privacy
The Privacy Notice explains what personal data we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and how to use your rights.
12. A free service that can change
Zenlit is free. There are no payments and no ads.
We may add, change or remove features, and we may pause or stop Zenlit, for example for maintenance or security, or if we stop running it. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you in the app beforehand. We don’t promise that Zenlit will always be available or free of errors.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using Zenlit and delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account.
We may suspend or end your access as described in Moderation and enforcement. The sections on your content, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and law continue to apply after your account ends.
14. Disclaimers
Zenlit is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about Zenlit beyond those in these Terms, including that it will suit a particular purpose or work without interruption.
We don’t verify what members say about themselves, where they are or what they share, and we are not responsible for other members’ content or behaviour, online or offline.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for loss of data, profits or goodwill, or for losses caused by other members’ content or conduct, including when you meet someone.
Because Zenlit is free, our total liability to you for all claims about Zenlit is limited to ₹1,000.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud or wilful misconduct, or any liability the law does not allow to be limited, and nothing stops you from going to court.
16. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you shared or because you broke these Terms or the law, you will cover the reasonable losses and costs it causes us, to the extent you caused them.
17. Changes to these Terms
We’ll announce changes in the app before they take effect. For important changes, we’ll ask you to accept the updated Terms or Community Guidelines before you continue using Zenlit; if you don’t want to accept them, you can delete your account. The version and effective date are shown at the top. We’ll also remind you of these rules in the app at least once every three months, as the law requires.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. Otherwise, the courts at Mysuru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction.
19. General
- If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t given it up.
- You can’t transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer them to someone who takes over running Zenlit, and we’ll tell you in the app if that happens.
- We’ll contact you in the app or at your account’s email address. You can contact us at the email below.
- These Terms are in English. If you’d like them in another language listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India, ask us. If versions differ, the English version applies.
